Images that need the tag
All relevant conditions should be true before applying the synthetic performer keyword.
- The image contains a person who looks photorealistic.
- The person was generated entirely by AI.
- The person is fictional and is not based on a real individual.
Images that do not need this tag
Amazon's guidance lists several cases outside this specific disclosure metadata requirement.
- Images containing only real people, even if AI-powered tools altered the image.
- Images with no people.
- Illustrated, cartoon, stylized, or otherwise non-photorealistic people.
- Characters from movies, games, or other expressive works.
Creative Assets and manual metadata
When uploading through Creative Assets in A+ Content Manager, Amazon may offer an “AI-generated” or “AI-generated people” selection and apply the necessary metadata. When that workflow is not available, the image file can be tagged before upload with an IPTC/XMP-compatible editor.
Always check the current Seller Central interface because platform workflows and regional disclosure requirements can change.
The tool does not classify images
This site writes and verifies metadata only. It does not inspect a face, infer the creative process, or decide whether a disclosure is legally or contractually required.
